About Us

It all started with a question: “Can you help source olive stones?” This led us to investigate why a large industrial coal producer would need such material, and to further research other agricultural residues (or non-woody biomass) and their specificities.

We realized there was a significant amount of value (energetic and monetary) discarded by farms and factories yet to be discovered. In most cases, farmers aren’t aware of the value or have the supply chain solution to market their waste. On the other end, energy converters aren’t incentivized or don’t have specialized research teams fully dedicated to understanding the use of this agricultural waste.

To bridge these gaps, we started our activity by specializing in the brokerage and research consultancy of these agricultural residues to highlight their value. Biomass from agricultural residue is still a small and growing market with its logistical and sourcing challenges. This is why at Metos Energy we make access to these materials easier for clients in order to accelerate product innovation.

Since our inception, we have expanded our portfolio to include other renewable energy commodities.

Our founder Roxana Piffl started the research and brokerage of agricultural residue with the belief that there was immense value in uncovering its value and making it accessible to the renewable energy sector.

With a BS in Environmental Biology from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica as well as a Master of Science in Environmental Resource Management from VU Amsterdam, Netherlands Roxana has the capacity to successfully weave knowledge of biomaterials into the needs of the clean energy sector.

Now with a team of advisors and brokers from different backgrounds and specialties, we work together to support this belief and accelerate innovation in bioenergy products.
